DAHAB
Dahab is one of the world’s most treasured diving destinations. It’s such a special place that many people have fallen in love with Dahab over the years.
Dahab is a small town now, yet it still retains the original feeling of the small Bedouin village it once was.
Dahab is set on the shores of the Red Sea, backed by the mountains of Sinai. It enjoys a fresh, uncrowded vibe where everyone has space to relax & unwind. There is a spiritual energy to Dahab that once tasted, can never be forgotten. This is one of the many reasons why people return to Dahab time & time again.
The year round sunshine, warm seas and equally warm welcome, combined with the ‘chilled out’ laid back feel of Dahab lures travelers from all over the world.
Watch out for your first wandering Dahab goat or camel, they are owned but prefer to spend their days wandering around until the Bedouin women call them in with their own special call.
Diving in Dahab
Shore Diving Paradise
Dahab is one of the top 5 dive destinations in the world. It is also easy to get to as most European countries fly here direct, in less than 6 hours, making it also one of the most convenient. Dahab is mainly shore based diving, which adds flexibility into the mix of your holiday too.
Liverboards might seem like a good idea but you risk being stuck with Mr. Boring who insists on showing you every blurry photo he took or worse… video!. With shore diving, you can just enjoy dive at your own pace, with your own instructor & really relax into your dive experience, rather than having to jump in at the sound of a horn, with 20 other divers.
A World of possibilities
Shore diving gives you more holiday time, so what to do with it?
I think in the western world we are constantly looking for ‘things to do’ plagued by the FOMO (fear of missing out) syndrome… Dahab is about being able to do nothing without guilt… when did you last just stare at the sea changing color in the evening or watch the palm leaves swaying in the wind or read a book without feeling guilty for not doing more?
You can also snorkel, freedive or SUP (stand up paddle boarding) in front of our place at Eel Garden (our house reef is one of the best on the world for this).
Dahab is also a mecca for wind sports like Kite Surfing & Windsurfing. Or you can try quad biking to one of the Wadis (a dry valley in the mountains) which usually includes a stop for the famous Bedouin tea. Try your hand at camel riding (you can choose this option as an add-on to your Bedouin dinner and it makes a great holiday photo) or enjoy horse-riding to the beautiful Lagoona.
Sinai Desert
On the surface, why not try something different?
Sinai has many treasures, one of the most famous is St Catherine’s Monastery at the base of the biblical Moses Mountain. The monastery also has a newly renovated museum showcasing ancient religious art and texts which are 1000’s of years old.
Desert safaris are a great way to explore the amazing mountains & sand dunes that surround Dahab. You can do this as a day trip or go deeper into the mountains and make it an overnight trip… sleeping under the stars in the desert is magical and an experience you’ll never forget!
Dahab has a great natural energy, reflected in the therapies available in Dahab. This includes Rieke Healing, Stone Massages, Yoga & many other natural therapies. You can join a drop in Yoga class, have a healing Reiki treatment or a sports massage… everything in Dahab is geared towards making you relax.
So you want to get wet!
You will feel like a fish in water here, with all our diving activities, but what if your friends or loved ones aren’t divers? Don’t worry we encourage all our guests to join the diving day, to snorkel or chill in one of the many shady cafes near the dive sites… who knows maybe they’ll get the bug.
